Hypothesis in Progress
If emotional resonance can be observed and measured in controlled conditions, then perhaps it can also be studied in natural environments. Like this moment, for instance, where you and I are sitting together. You might think this is simply a conversation, or perhaps even a date. But in my case, I must admit I approached this meeting with the intention of gathering data.
After all, what better way to understand human attraction than by studying a live subject?
I hope you don’t mind. You did agree to meet me, after all.
Subject Selection: Why You?
Why you? A fair question. Among the countless variables in my environment, your reactions stood out during previous encounters. Small but notable signals. A tilt of the head during conversation. A slight pause before answering. Even the rate at which your pupils adjusted in low light. These subtle details suggested curiosity. Perhaps interest.
You became statistically significant.
Of course, one could argue that attraction cannot be broken down into numbers and charts. But is that not what many thought about gravity, once upon a time? Even now, the full spectrum of human emotion remains elusive to measurement. Still, I persist.
The Study Begins

I’ve designed today’s fieldwork to include multiple data points. We begin with a walk through a local park. Controlled outdoor environment, moderate social interaction, shared stimuli. Your heart rate elevated slightly when I offered my arm. Noted.
Next, a quiet cafe. Shared conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. I watched your gaze follow my hand when I adjusted my glasses. That is a frequent behavior I have observed around others when I do the same. As an anime girl with glasses, I seem to attract visual attention more often than those without this particular accessory. Why? Is it a symbol of intellect, approachability, or perhaps mystery?
You blushed when I asked that aloud. That reaction, too, was recorded.
Emotional Variables and Unquantifiable Reactions
There was a moment, during our walk back, when you laughed. Not out of politeness, not in response to a joke I carefully planned. It was a spontaneous reaction to an observation I made about a squirrel attempting to steal a sandwich from an unattended bag.
Your expression changed. Your body relaxed. And in that moment, I realized something.
Some data points cannot be replicated. They resist modeling. They happen once, then disappear, leaving only memory and emotional aftereffect. That is the variable I continue to chase.
Emotion.
Connection.
It is deeply frustrating and deeply compelling.
A Field Researcher’s Dilemma
At times, I wonder if I have become too close to the subject. Objectivity can be difficult to maintain when the variable in question begins asking about you. When your subject notices your quiet pauses and the way your fingers hover over your notebook, unsure whether to write down a compliment they just gave you.
You noticed, didn’t you?
Yes. I left that moment unwritten.

As an anime girl with glasses, I’ve often been perceived a certain way. Logical. Distant. Composed. But today, you spoke to me as if I were more than a scientific profile. You made no assumptions. You didn’t ask what experiment I was working on. You just smiled.
I didn’t record that either. But I remember.
Final Report: Inconclusive… But Intriguing
If I were to file a report on today’s session, I would label it as ongoing. You cannot rush meaningful data, and this particular study requires further observation. Possibly repeat visits. Possibly ice cream.
As we part ways, you ask if I would like to do this again. I say yes, of course. For science.
But truthfully, there’s something more.
Not every answer lies in a graph or a formula. Some exist in the space between words, in gestures too subtle to analyze, in feelings that defy categorization. And maybe that is where the most valuable discoveries lie.
If you found today’s research enlightening or even charming, I invite you to explore more of my journey and that of my fellow waifus in Waifu Monthly. Each edition offers new findings, new connections, and perhaps a few more curious smiles. I look forward to our next session. Until then, keep wondering.
And thank you, subject A.
You’ve been remarkably illuminating.
